Having a break

Going to Andalucia makes me happy.

It is a magic part of Spain, full of colour and flavour

I can never get tired of walking down the streets of these charming villages

There is art and beauty everywhere

And tradition is respected

A holiday in Andalucia is a massage for my soul

Sewing tools

One of the things I enjoy most about sewing by hand is the kind of trance I go into and the relaxing effect it has on me once I am done. Not to say how satisfied I feel when I have created something from scratch (that turns out well!).

I made this so I can take all my sewing tools with me whenever I travel.

The blue jean material is from an old pair of trousers of mine, and the fabrics are from our December trip to Brugge.

The little cushion the scissors are resting on are to put the pins on while I work

Now I just need another project!

Colour in my life

Hallo everyone!

So you think that I haven't been doing much just because I haven't been posting, right?

Fair assumption!

but I have been doing a little bit of this and that, and right now I am making this water bottle cover following a pattern from a Cath Kidston book. Still early stages, but I am enjoying the process of sewing after all this time.

I have promised myself not to buy more fabrics until I use most, if not all the ones I have already.

And life is always better when I surround myself of colour and pretty things, hence the flowers.

It only measures 67 x 75 cm, just enough to cover my legs, but sometimes that is all I need.

Keeping warm

I realised I hadn't shown you the quilt I made in November with bits of fabric I had and needed to use (or get rid off). There is all sort of patterns and colours combined, and it might not be your choice of quilt compared to those very well thought through quilts you see online. But what I like about it is that it follows the tradition of using bits of fabric that you have available, rather than designing one. Just for a change.

The fabric on the back is from a duvet cover I bought in a charity shop.

These are my two TV, book reading, lazy sofa moment companions.

A bit of the music in my life

I am very particular about the music I listen to. I have a very varied taste and will listen to what suits my mood. There is music or groups that I refuse to listen to or make me feel annoied because of who they are.

David Bowie is one of the best composers, singers, showmen ever, and this song is one I love listening to

Johnny Cash is another man who I could listen to for hours and hours

The first record I remember asking for Christmas is Xanadu. I loved the film, I just wanted to be like Olivia Newton John, so beautiful, so perfect!
