Best wishes for 2011

If I share my resolutions with you it won't make me want to stick to them just by making them public. Keeping them to myself makes them more meaningful. My aspirations, hopes and deepest wishes are personal. However, there are common desires such as wanting to see friends more, learn new things and become better versions of ourselves. Which direction we take and how we do it needs to be tailored and suited to each unique individual. I wish your days in 2011 are full of little steps forward, satisfying moments and deepest content with yourself and the life you are leading.

Award

So I've won an award! Amazing, incredible! Well, it is an award where I give a little bit of information about me so you get to know me a wee better.

The person who gave me the award is Piper and Lily, and I have to apologize for taking so long to get round to do this. Woops!

Rules for this award:

• Thank the person who nominated you for the award

• Copy the logo and place it on your blog

• Link to the person who nominated you for this award

• List seven things about yourself that people might find interesting

• Nominate and post links to the seven Kreativ Bloggers you nominate

• Leave a comment on each of the blogs, letting them know they have been nominated

Ok, so here are 7 things you don't know about me -

1. I have recently become passionate about Japanese food, especially sushi.

2. When I was little (8-9 years old) one of my dreams was to be an independent woman by 18 with my own flat and my own red Ford Fiesta, and being a secretary. Along that dream I had another one of being married to a farmer and have lots of animals.

3. I hate to see people biting or filing their nails. It makes me cringe!!

4. I find it is very important to have lots of life experiences. I want to look back at my life feeling I have lived it to the full.

5. I love traveling. It gives me a sense of adventure and discovery. It makes me a richer person and helps me be creative and put things in perspective.

6. I have dyed my hair since I was 16. I once had it cut very short, bleached it and left some bits longer and died them purple. You should have heard my Mom's laughter and seen my father's face when they first saw me. Unforgettable.

7. I know for a fact that dreams come true.

So I don't know if these things are interesting or not, but they are part of who I am.

: )

I am not going to give the award because I feel that more than 7 deserve it. Just look at the amount of blogs that I follow in my main page and you will see. I couldn't put the photo in the post because my blog said there was an error (?). I would like to invite all readers to do this. Is a lot of fun!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

My behaviour

I love going to fabric shops, haberdasheries, art supply shops and places where they sell material that I can see myself using for my creative projects. My brain starts working a bit like The Terminator, analasing the area, the contents, acting like a radar. But R thinks my body language resembles that of a meerkat. So here is a photo I took of a meerkat when we went to the Cotswolds Wild Life Park. You know what? He is sooooo right!

Back in UK and ready to sew!

Good morning everyone!
I am back from Spain, with a tan, with 2 extra kilos on my lovely hips and with a chilled out attitude. I didn't get around to do any crafting, mainly because I was too busy laying down reading, on the beach, on the sofa, on the bed.

I tried to make a bag for my crochet stuff before I left but my sewing machine gave up on me. My lovely R has cleaned it and had a good look at it (boys and machines, you know!), and it seems to be working now. I adore my man! I can't wait to give it a go later today. But first is first and home duties call....

What is your writing like?

Good morning everybody!
Right since I was a little girl I loved changing my writing. I liked to copy that of my friends and try new types that I saw around. I didn't know why I liked it so much. I just did. I remember someone saying to me that that was because my personality wasn't developed, since writing says so much about the person. Don't know about that. I just like different types of writing and to imagine how it feels to write in one way or another. I am also strangely fussy about what pencil or pen I use for different notes.
It was nice to discover that I am not odd when coming across like-minded people in the internet.
This video is all about typography. It is really cool!

Write a letter

We all know the advantages of using the computer for communication, but we have all seemed to forget the charm of writing letters, and even more, of receiving post through the door from a loved one. How nice it is to find the instantly recognisable writing of your dear friend or family member? There is such a wonderful feeling when sitting quietly reading the handwritten lines from that special someone, there is such a connection...

There is another side to writing letters that is important. There are lots of jobs that rely on this old means of communication. What about the stamp designers, the industry behind those that make the glue for the stamps and envelopes, the post office employees, the stationery shops, the ink makers from the ink that then is used to stamp the date and place where it was sent from, etc? I could write a PhD on the subject, but I will let you pond about it and I hope you get a postcard or a nice writing set and get yourself to writing a few words to someone you care about. Imagine the nice surprise you will give them. I guarantee you will put a smile on their face, and that is always a good thing especially if it is to someone you care about.

Her name is Pearl

Yay! The owl turns out to be a "she", and her name is Pearl. Isn't that sweet?
Thank you RxQueenAsh for your great suggestion. I was really thrilled to get your comment. Why don't you check out her blog here?

I like to ride my bicycle, I like to ride my bike

Brrrrrr.
It is soooo cold these days!  I was a little bit reluctant to cycle into town yesterday since I thought it would be more pleasant to walk, but Richard convinced me. And he was right! It was quicker (of course), and one gets warm with the exercise. I must start using the bicycle again...I am hoping it will also help me lose the weight I have been putting on over Christmas!
Here is a drawing I made a couple of years ago of a bicycle. I haven drawn for aaaages! Maybe another thing to take on again in 2009?

I like Apples

I finally made the decision of buying an Apple computer, something that I have been thinking for ages! I am at very early stages, finding it a bit tricky to get the most out of it. That is why I bought a book of MacBook for Dummies. I think that some reading, online tutorials and practice will help me become the Mac wizard I hope to be in a few months time!
This book looks very boring from the outside, so I decided to use some of the paper wrap I bought on our October trip to KL.

I made the finish touch by plastifying it. Much nicer, huh?

Red

I love this colour red that you can find in autumn. I came across this ivy while going for a walk at the weekend.

Autumn

Hallo Everybody! I have been a little bit quiet lately only because I was away a few days in Madrid celebrating my brother's 40th birthday. Now I am back at home and trying to catch up with my projects. I am currently working on something that I will post very soon. It has been my biggest project so far (in size and time) and hope to finish it tonight. I am not quite sure if I like long projects...I quite like making things fairly quickly but I must admit that the effort put into long crafty ideas is satisfying too.
I was in a silly mood today: tired, irritable and annoyed in a childish way that I haven't got enough time to do all I would like to do. I would like to have so much more time for my sewing, photographs and blogging. I am sure you crafty bloggers understand! I sometimes imagine those who as well as everything else have children and I say to myself: how on earth do they do it? And that is coming from someone who sometime would like to venture into breeding! Anyway, I thought that a walk and a treat such as a Pain au chocolat would make me feel better so I went out in this lovely sunny autumn day and took the picture you can see above. I love autumn colours. They are my favourite.

She owl or he owl

And yet another purchase from the Antique Market...It is painted stone. There were two other fantastic owls in the stand of the same style but my purse was already saying Ouch! when I bought this one. I might have to get them if they are still there next week though...

It looks quite different depending on the lighting and the angle. I can't make up my mind if it is male or female. What do you think? Any suggestions for a name?
